Design engineer – M/F

Job description

The design engineer determines the requirements and architecture for the company’s telecommunications networks. He/she is responsible for the proper operation and quality of the network, and contributes to network upgrades.

Main duties

Technical analysis and costing

  • Identifies and analyses the customer’s requirements
  • Calculates the associated costs
  • Benchmarks existing solutions
  • Lists the features requested by the customer
  • Recommends the technical solution that best fits the customer’s requirements

Design

  • Designs system architectures
  • Suggests options for upgrading and streamlining legacy systems
  • Ensures at all times that the delivered system is consistent with the legacy system
  • Produces system architecture diagrams
  • Keeps the IT systems map up to date

Acceptance

  • Recommends relevant testing procedures (unit tests, integration tests, acceptance tests)
  • Reviews the implementation of testing plans or approves the use of indicators

Technology watch

  • Keeps abreast of new languages, existing technical solutions, new tools, etc.
  • Pre-empts disruptive innovations and technical developments

Technology awareness-raising

  • Arranges presentations on innovative technologies
  • Produces models to demonstrate and confirm the strengths and weaknesses of various technologies and solutions

Roll-out project manager – M/F

Job description

The roll-out project manager oversees site construction and upgrade projects, meeting the capacity, coverage and service quality requirements set out in the architecture documentation.

Main duties

Preparatory work

  • Assesses potential sites and determines the location of base stations, towers and cables, or classifies network infrastructure sites
  • Oversees and negotiates installation arrangements (rights of way, leases) for telecoms network infrastructure sites (towers, masts, cables, etc.)

Roll-out project management

  • Identifies and sequences project-related tasks and activities
  • Draws up an optimised schedule
  • Monitors progress and makes adjustments as and when required
  • Assesses risks
  • Recommends preventive and remedial measures as required

Service provider management

  • Selects service providers and/or suppliers
  • Negotiates and signs contracts with service providers and/or suppliers
  • Oversees the contractual and operational aspects of subcontracting

Prepares technical documentation

  • Prepares the general engineering document for each future network component (functions, protocols, sizing and implementation rules)
  • Prepares the detailed engineering documentation (installation and configurations, nominal technical configurations for equipment)
  • Prepares the manufacturer specifications (equipment specifications)
  • May be involved in tendering processes

Support engineer – M/F

Job description

The support engineer ensures that the network remains available 24/7. He/she detects and analyses network operation issues and orders repair or restoration work in order to maintain agreed capacity levels.

Main duties

Network supervision

  • Supervises the telecoms network 24/7
  • Detects and analyses incidents
  • Gauges the impact for customers
  • Orders call-outs for operations or support technicians (levels 1 and 2)

Incident management (level 1 and 2)

  • Identifies incidents
  • Implements appropriate remedial measures in order to resolve the problem
  • Oversees call-outs

Preventive maintenance

  • Suggests improvements to the preventive aspects of operating methods and procedures

Service provider management

  • Selects service providers and/or suppliers
  • Negotiates and signs contracts with service providers and/or suppliers
  • Oversees the contractual and operational aspects of subcontracting

Telecoms network operation technician – M/F

Job description

The telecoms network operation technician handles preventive and curative maintenance and upgrade tasks for telecoms equipment and network site infrastructure.

Main duties

Curative maintenance

  • Receives and analyses fault and malfunction reports
  • Diagnoses the nature and cause of faults
  • Carries out repairs on site
  • Calls in technical specialists for support if required
  • Monitors work by external contractors
  • Applies safety rules and guidelines

Upgrades

  • Contributes to major network expansion or modification work
  • Contributes to site improvements and upgrades (e.g. site access)

Preventive maintenance

  • Contributes to site and equipment maintenance work
  • Performs regulatory checks and inspections

 

Special working arrangements: This role involves working on-call and staggered hours, travel to sites and working outdoors and at height
