Logistics officer – M/F

Job description

The logistics officer manages and coordinates physical flows (of materials, products and equipment), meeting cost, quality and lead time imperatives in accordance with the company’s strategy.

Main duties

Logistics planning

  • Supervises inventory management (status, requirements relative to work-in-progress)
  • Works with suppliers to monitor the sourcing, receipt and storage of supplies and equipment
  • Coordinates the movement of worksite supplies

Purchasing

  • Arranges purchases from local and international suppliers
  • Monitors orders for compliance
  • Develops sourcing strategies
  • Negotiates with suppliers to achieve favourable pricing arrangements and purchase contract terms

Participation in budget monitoring

  • Helps prepare annual budgets in terms of flows
  • Tracks margin trends relative to the annual budget

Regulation

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and legal standards governing transportation
  • Applies specific procedures (dangerous goods declaration (DGD), etc.)
  • Manages customs duties

Competitive intelligence/technology watch

  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments in domestic and international regulations

Special working arrangements: This role involves travel

Maintenance officer – M/F

Job description

The maintenance officer ensures that facilities, equipment and plant remain fully operational, and pre-empts possible issues and malfunctions.

Main duties

Maintenance of manufacturing facilities

  • Reviews equipment maintenance records to plan call-outs
  • Inspects faulty equipment and diagnoses the causes of the fault
  • Cleans, repairs or replaces defective parts
  • Inspects plant and vehicles in line with applicable regulations
  • Ensures that manufacturing facilities remain fully operational at all times

Continuous improvement

  • Helps improve maintenance procedures
  • Introduces improved systems and processes in order to boost the efficiency and lifespan of manufacturing facilities
  • Keeps abreast of innovation in the relevant field

Inventory management

  • Plans ahead to ensure that parts and components are available in sufficient quantities for the completion of works

Training and knowledge-sharing

  • Trains new hires
  • May be required to train users

Plant manager – M/F

Job description

The plant manager oversees plant fleet management and machine maintenance and servicing, ensuring that equipment remains fully operational and recommending the necessary capital expenditures. He/she is actively involved in developing innovative processes or technologies.

Main duties

Plant management

  • Helps set maintenance and capital expenditure budgets
  • Monitors, analyses and adjusts these budgets
  • Manages capital expenditure orders
  • May be required to negotiate with suppliers

Technology and innovation management

  • Advises operational staff on equipment management and usage
  • Contributes to technical, technological and logistics decision-making
  • Provides technical support
  • Keeps abreast of innovations with respect to equipment and makes appropriate recommendations
  • Checks equipment for technical performance and energy efficiency

Safety management

  • Ensures that equipment is in good working order and compliant with safety rules
  • Recommends technical solutions to improve employee safety
  • Enforces quality, safety and environment rules
  • Ensures that in-house procedures and regulatory requirements are complied with
