BIM manager – M/F

Job description

The BIM manager sets up the BIM (Building Information Modelling) process in order to inform the design and build of a structure by simulating its behaviour throughout its life cycle. He/she uses the building information model as a tool for communication and collaboration between all those involved in the project.

Main duties

BIM policy and standards

  • Defines and implements the BIM policy and processes
  • Recommends suitable BIM tools
  • Ensures that BIM procedures and standards are followed

Technical support

  • Provides software and hardware technical support (library reconfiguration, plug-ins, environments, hardware, licences, etc.)
  • Trains and supports project teams in the use of BIM
  • Produces or oversees the production of project outlines in all phases
  • Detects issues with compiled models (i.e. design inconsistencies)
  • Writes reports on software bugs and problems encountered

Coordination of the BIM process

  • Coordinates all those involved in the BIM process in all phases (design, build, operation and maintenance)
  • Establishes and tracks performance indicators to ensure that the entire BIM process is executed as planned
  • Leads project coordination meetings
  • Monitors and manages project updates using a collaborative platform

Costing officer – M/F

Job description

The costing officer costs construction projects so that the company can bid for contracts from public or private customers.

Main duties

Design

  • Project environment analysis (technical and regulatory aspects: soil analysis, network size, etc.)
  • Assesses risks and recommends alternative solutions as required

Project costing

  • Reviews tender documentation or the customer’s request
  • Analyses drawings and surveys and reviews these for technical and regulatory compliance
  • Prepares and drafts technical documentation (technical memorandum/notice, schedule, etc.)
  • Calculates the cost of a project
  • Helps select suppliers and subcontractor
  • May be involved in service and price negotiations

Prospecting

  • Helps reach out to fast-growing markets and determine their degree of interest

Liaison

  • Maintains an ongoing working relationship with various company departments throughout the project (sales, operations, legal affairs, etc.)

Draughtsperson/designer – M/F

Job description

The draughtsperson/designer translates the chosen technical and architectural solutions into 2D or 3D structural drawings, working in accordance with applicable regulations and agreed lead times and budgets.

Main duties

Design and surveying

  • Produces quantity surveys of future structures based on drawings
  • Designs appropriately sized service networks (roads, smoke extraction systems, etc.)
  • Identifies issues and recommends solutions that meet the customer’s expectations
  • Considers working methods that fit site-specific constraints in conjunction with the works supervisor

Development of working drawings

  • Uses software to produce various drawings and models
  • Incorporates figures from design studies and surveys
  • Estimates materials requirements

Site monitoring and work completion

  • Updates drawings to reflect on-site changes
  • Provides technical support to the works supervisor
  • Monitors and approves fit-out drawings and product data sheets
  • Updates location drawings to include product references
  • Prepares an as-built drawing (showing the work completed)

Surveyor/topographer – M/F

Job description

The surveyor/topographer conducts surveys that serve as the basis for a plan and an accurate map showing all details of a plot of land.

Main duties

Contributes to producing surveys

  • Reviews topographic documents contained in the contract documentation (plan, etc.)
  • Visits the site to determine the actual configuration of the land and the soil conditions
  • Conducts a ground survey (data collection)
  • Prepares working drawings by determining the quantities of materials required for completion of the project

Site layout and monitoring

  • Designs the site layout, identifying all optimisation opportunities (in terms of size, connections, profiles, etc.)
  • Carries out the site inspection with the foreman, identifying all points of concern or interest based on the site layout plan
  • Updates working drawings to reflect the progress of work at the site

Worksite completion

  • Prepares the as-built drawing, working in conjunction with the operational teams

Technical design officer – M/F

Job description

The technical design officer optimises the technical and financial aspects of project execution. He/she is involved in monitoring the technical, risk-related, cost-related and regulatory aspects of the project and in ensuring their reliability.

Main duties

Studies

  • Identifies the technical risks inherent in the project and the site constraints (geotechnics, pollution, etc.)
  • Participates in the feasibility study and in project scheduling
  • Contributes to project costing
  • Carries out technology and regulatory watch in order to advise and support operational teams accordingly
  • Produces project-related graphics and visuals (drawings, blueprints, 3D models, videos and/or virtual models)

Building permit filing/Design

  • Prepares and negotiates engineering consultant contracts in line with the budget
  • Supervises design studies
  • Produces the technical documentation required to launch consultation phases
  • Helps the teams obtain and update building permits

Advising operational teams

  • Helps the operational teams select service providers

 

Special working arrangements: This role involves travel
